Student Leadership Opportunities

At Old Noarlunga Primary School, we seek opportunities for all students to develop their leadership abilities. In addition to opportunities for students to develop skills as leaders in their class, our formal leadership programs include:

Student Representative Council (SRC)

SRC representatives are elected by their peers for each class from Reception to Year 6. SRC reps are involved in a range of activities including organising events that support the wellbeing of students such as celebrations for Harmony Day and School Spirit celebrations, producing videos about the school values, and fundraising for local community organisations.

House Captains

House Captains for the school house teams are elected by all members of the house. These leaders have an important role assisting with organisation for the school Sports Day, as well as running activities through the year to encourage physical activity.

School Captains

School Captains are elected by the entire student body and serve as student representatives of the school. School Captains coordinate the SRC, present to the Governing Council on student matters and have a range of other important roles through the year.

Youth Environmental Leaders Program (YELP)

All SRC representatives and School Captains participate in the YELP, an initiative of Green Adelaide. Over the year, the students participate in leadership development forums with students from across southern Adelaide, designing and implementing a sustainability-focused initiative in their own community.
